A 33-year-old man was struck and killed by a car near Union Square early Sunday morning.
The collision occurred on Fifth Avenue, between 16th and 15th streets, shortly after 3 a.m., police said.
Authorities said the pedestrian was crossing Fifth Avenue, when a white two-door sedan, traveling southbound, crashed into him and then fled the scene.
Responding officers noted the man sustained severe head trauma. He was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.
The victim’s identity has not been released because his family has not yet been notified.
No arrests have been made. Police are looking for the car and driver.
