iOS 7 has now been out for a few weeks, and after the initial wave, apps are slowly, but surely being updated with new design elements. Skype, Circa News, and 500px have all been updated for iOS 7 giving you video calls, quick news, and beautiful photos streamlined for the new design. In terms of Skype (Free, iPhone / Free, iPad), it already had a flat Windows 8 style design, so the iOS 7 adoption isn’t much of a change. The top blue bar blends into the status bar, a lighter font is used, and the bottom tab bar is a lighter color.
Circa News (Free, iPhone) received a significant 2.0 update which overhauls the app for iOS 7. The app is designed to give you short summaries of the news for concise updates on the latest happenings. The main screen is now optimized for iOS 7 with an image first layout that features translucent headlines, and a flat list of articles. Within an individual article, there’s a new lighter font, as well as the ability to swipe from the left to go back to the main screen. The backend of the app has also been optimized for speed, including background updating as part of iOS 7. There’s also now full screen image options, and breaking news notifications.
Finally, 500px (Free, Universal) is all about professional photography with a stream of beautiful photos. The app has been updated for iOS 7, and the main change is a new edge to edge design to fill the screen with images. That includes the main feed of the thumbnail grid, as well as an individual photo. There are also new swipe gestures to interact with various photos. Skype, Circa News, and 500px now fit with iOS 7, so get downloading the three free apps today if you’re running Apple’s latest mobile OS.
