On September 30, The Kinston-Lenoir County Friends of the Library held the drawing for a raffle that gave library patrons the chance to win a brand new iPad.

The drawing was held at 3:00 p.m. in the Schechter Auditorium of the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library and was open to the public. Tickets were sold to the public throughout the month of September. The raffle was sponsored by Self-Help Credit Union and Affordable Care, Inc.

Fundraising Chair Brenda Woodley welcomed the drawing’s attendees and explained that the proceeds from the raffle would be given to the Children’s Department of the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library to purchase welcome kits for new juvenile library card registrants.

Ashley Pierce of Self-Help Credit Union and Shannon Foscue of Affordable Care, Inc. conducted the drawing. The winner was Karen Oliver of Kinston. Oliver claimed her prize later that day.

“I am so excited,” said Oliver. “It is especially gratifying to know that the funding will go towards encouraging children to use their local library.”

“We are thrilled to be a part of raising over $1,400 for children’s services at the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library,” said Pierce.

“Congratulations to the winner! This event was a huge success and we are proud to have been a sponsor,” said Foscue.
