Nexus 7 vs Samsung Galaxy Note vs iPad Mini: 7-8 inch Showdown
Google Nexus 7 vs Samsung Galaxy Note 8 vs iPad Mini
Alright folks, spec-wise the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 seems to be on top of the situation, offering an Exynos 4412 quad-core CPU clocked at 1.6 GHz, a Mali-400MP GPU and 2 GB of RAM, 16/32 GB of storage expandable by up to 64 GB via microSD.
We’ve already established that the Nexus 7 is a better all-rounder than the iPad Mini, and Note 8′s specs seem to be even better than those of the Nexus 7, but for the sake of consistency, let’s take a quick look at what these other two devices pack.
The Nexus 7 has a quad-core Tegra 3 CPU clocked at 1.2 GHz, 1 GB of RAM and 16/32 GB of storage, whereas the iPad Mini arrives with an Apple A5 dual-core CPU running at 1 GHz, 512 MB of RAM and 16/32/64 GB of storage, with excruciating prices going even higher as the storage capacity gets larger.
Other dissimilarities between these three tablets concern the cameras and displays. The Note 8 arrives with an 8-inch screen featuring a resolution of 800 x 1280 and a pixel density of 189 ppi, the N7 sports a similar resolution but in a smaller 7-inch package, resulting in a higher pixel density of 216, and the iPad Mini arrives with the lowest resolution of 768 x 1024, the lowest pixel density (162ppi) and a diagonal of 7.9 inches.
Unlike the Nexus 7, both the iPad Mini and the Note 8 have a rear facing camera as well, both of them being 5 MP sensors.
Of course, the biggest advantage of the Note 8 is that it arrives with an incorporated stylus, and being a “Note” gadget, it features a ton of apps to go hand in hand with it.
It almost sounds like I’m rooting for the Samsung gadget, and to be honest, I kinda like it. The only question that needs answering is if whether or not the price will be right. We’ve talked about some rumors regarding the matter, but not much has been confirmed thus far. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
In the meantime, check out the hands-on video below if you wish to see all three devices side-by-side.
