New rugged Thule case for 13 inch MacBook Pro plus an iPad

New rugged Thule case for 13 inch MacBook Pro plus an iPad

Those of our readers that decided a traditional laptop computer was still needed after buying the new iPad 3 might want a case to protect both devices, and Thule has offered this possibility in their new rugged case, which protects both an iPad and 13 inch MacBook Pro.

Titled the "13-inch MacBook Pro + iPad Attaché" and with a clamshell design, so you can use the MacBook Pro while it's still inside the Thule case. We've seen the brand add a few models to its laptop protection line in the past, and Thule has become known for good protection thanks to their experience in cargo carriers and automobile bike racks.

Some of the main selling points include a horizontal elastic band to keep everything in place within the case, a design for all-weather use, a wider base for holding bigger power adapters, and excellent protection for your iPad within compressible foam padding and nylex lining.

Most of your portable gear should fit inside this case, which includes room for multiple power adapters, an iPhone, iPad, and of course the laptop. While many Apple fans are looking for cases that are water and impact resistant, sadly the design that Thule offer is not for everyone, although we find the $79.99 price pretty reasonable.

Have you gone tablet only already? You can see all the main features and a collection of photos on the official product page here, although we'd love to know your thoughts on owning both an iPad and MacBook Pro? In our opinion both are still needed although it's hoped we, and other users, can make the full jump to tablet only computing within a couple of years. We also included a video of another case/sleeve by Thule, which should give you an idea on the quality this brand offers.

Examining Galaxy S3 specs Vs Galaxy Nexus, HTC One X

Examining Galaxy S3 specs Vs Galaxy Nexus, HTC One X

Earlier on we spoke about the new Samsung Galaxy S III briefly when discussing the LG Optimus LTE2, a surprise new handset announced by LG on the same day. Now though, it's time to focus on Samsung's new flagship device and how the new hardware specs compare to the some of the best handsets out at the moment.

While some of you may not be too happy with that physical home button that features on the Galaxy S III, you'll probably be very impressed with the list of hardware specs that Samsung announced. The device will feature a Exynos quad-core processor as expected which is clocked at 1.4Ghz per core, but the most pleasing aspect for us is the inclusion of a 2100mAh battery.

For the very first time, Samsung has announced a phone with a battery good enough to meet the quad-core chip's expectations and with a 2100mAh battery at your disposal, you'll be able to manage a good amount of 4G data activity as well as graphic intensive games on the go.

Also impressive on the hardware side is an 'HD' Super AMOLED display screen which is a mammoth 4.8-inches in size. This easily eclipses the display screens featured on the Galaxy Nexus (4.65-inch) and the HTC One X (4.7), while at the same time it comes mighty close to the Galaxy Note's screen at 5.3-inch and even closer to the PS Vita which has a 5-inch OLED screen.

One disappointing aspect which probably needs discussing is the camera. There was growing speculation that the Galaxy S III would feature a 12 megapixel camera, but instead we see that the device has actually been fitted with Samsung's standard 8MP sensor which is similar to the ones used in the Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Note. Having said that, most of you will probably be pretty happy with the quality of the 8MP sensor anyway.

Once again though, we have a feeling that it will be the battery life that users will appreciate the most when the device releases in Europe at the end of the month and Summer in the US. The quad-core HTC One X only features a 1800mAh battery which is really not good enough, and some of you aren't really happy with the Galaxy Nexus battery at 1850mAh either. 2100mAh is a considerable step up for Samsung, so it will be interesting to see just how much extra juice it will be able to manage compared to other devices on the market.

Below is a very useful specs chart, courtesy of Droid-Life which compares Galaxy S3 hardware specs with those in the Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S2 and probably Samsung's biggest rival so far, the HTC One X. Are you impressed with what the Galaxy S3 can do on paper initially?

Elder Scrolls Online: Public boss fights, dungeons and pricing

Elder Scrolls Online: Public boss fights, dungeons and pricing

We are still pondering over what Dawnguard could possibly entail in terms of Bethesda's big Skyrim DLC tease. In the midst of all that though, another bombshell has just occurred – the official confirmation of The Elder Scrolls Online MMO game!

You may remember a few months ago that rumors started to surface on a possible MMO game for the Elder Scrolls franchise and obviously the rumors have now turned out to be correct. Confirmed in a Tweet by Bethesda, Elder Scrolls Online will be developed by ZeniMax Online Studios and the game will be releasing sometime in 2013.

Game Informer initially had the scoop on the story and the game has been confirmed to be featuring on the next issue of their magazine. However, a trailer as well as an initial screenshot should be available over this weekend which is exciting.

Before you all get your hopes up on this appearing on home consoles, it looks like this game will be developed for PC and Mac only. We also know that it will be set in Tamriel, 1000 years before Skyrim and the previous leaked information regarding three factions was correct – those being factions represented by a lion, a dragon, and a bird of prey emblems.

There's obviously an endless amount of possibilities with an online Elder Scrolls games. The most obvious of which is playing the game with other people, for the very first time in the franchise. You'll be able to explore dungeons with other players, fight for loot perhaps and take down massive bosses with a group of warriors – it is mouthwatering stuff.

We just hope that ZeniMax won't go too overboard with their pricing for the game. Expect a monthly subscription for sure, but anything over $15 USD a month may start to raise one or two eyebrows. For now though, it's best to just enjoy the announcement and now imagine a reality where you'll be able to take everything that you love from Skyrim and share it with your friends.

Also, it's probably safe to assume that you can kiss goodbye to your social life once this comes out next year. What is your initial reaction to an Elder Scrolls Online game? Disappointed that it is PC and Mac only? Looking forward to a closed beta? Share your thoughts below!

LG Optimus LTE2 boasts 2GB of RAM, Galaxy S III doesn't

LG Optimus LTE2 boasts 2GB of RAM, Galaxy S III doesn't

As expected, Samsung has finally taken the wraps of their next generation smartphone and unveiled the Galaxy S III. In a rather surprising twist though, LG has attempted to steal their thunder by announcing their next effort – the Optimus LTE2 which boasts a monster 2GB of RAM.

As most of you will be aware, this is breaking new ground in terms of smartphone hardware. The LG Optimus 2X was the first to unveil a dual-core processor in a smartphone and it looks like LG has managed to be first once again by successfully equipping a mainstream smartphone with 2GB of RAM.

The other areas of the device impress as well, with a True HD IPS display screen, wireless charging and a 2150mAh battery all confirmed. Unfortunately, what we don't know yet is whether the device will have a quad-core processor. But with 2GB to utilize as well as Android 4.0, we very much expect so.

What will 2GB of RAM be able to achieve though compared to 1GB which is standard in all smartphones at the moment? You can be sure that the handset won't experience any sort of performance slow-downs when opening up a series of apps simulataneously and switching between them at free will.

2GB of RAM also means great things in terms of graphic intensive mobile games as well. If combined with a NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor like the Optimus 4X, the LTE2 should be able to handle any mobile game the Google Play store throws at it period. Now that LG has managed to achieve the feat, it should obviously now open the floodgates for other manufacturers to follow. Samsung obviously missed out with their new Galaxy S III, but it may make up for that with performance capable from their own Exynos built quad-core chip.

What does 2GB of RAM in a smartphone mean to you? Does this now put the Optimus LTE2 ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S III for you, or does the amount of RAM not bother you too much in terms of hardware specifications? On a side note – Do you think it is a low blow by LG to announce their new phone on the very same day as the Galaxy S III?
