Apple released the new iPad 3 in mid-March and already it has garnered huge buzz throughout the tech-world. Nearly every major technology site has posted iPad 3 reviews that delve into nearly every aspect of the product, but opinions naturally vary on just how useful the new features of the device are compared to its predecessors. While almost every review concludes that the device is a worthwhile tablet, some have wished for more noticeable upgrades in the new device.

The biggest new feature of the new iPad is the much-hyped Retina display. Whereas the iPad 2 had a resolution of 1920 by 1080, the new iPad 3 is capable of displaying graphics in an unprecedented 2048 by 1536 resolution. That equates to 3.1 million pixels total for the iPad 3 display. While most iPad 3 reviews agree that the display is a much welcomed improvement, not everyone agrees on whether it makes enough of a difference to warrant an upgrade. Those who use the device for reading, playing graphics-intensive games or watching HD movies are more likely to notice, but those that simply use the device for business or web surfing may not notice the improvements as much.

Another big improvement that comes with the new iPad 3 is the introduction of 4G LTE capabilities. While this feature is only present in some models, the introduction of 4G LTE allows users to use the device wirelessly through either AT&T or Verizon at twice the speed of the iPad 2′s 3G model. For those that are in constant need of a fast connection while travelling, this increase in speed alone is likely worth the upgrade. For other users, however, this new feature will largely go unnoticed since few apps on the device require an extremely fast internet connection.

While there are some nice new features in the iPad 3, one of the greatest things about the device is that all of the features that made the iPad 2 a success are still there. While some iPad 3 reviews may claim that not a lot was changed with this new iteration, the fact of the matter is that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" truly applies here. The new iPad has kept the rear-facing camera but has upgraded it to a full five megapixels, while the forward-facing camera is still in place for web-conferencing. Users will also find that the battery life is still incredible at a staggering 10 hours as well.

Ultimately, the iPad 3 is definitely worth the money. If you don't already have a tablet, then there is no better device available. Even if you already have an iPad 2, there are still enough improvements here to warrant an upgrade.
