Good news, Pod2G famous iOS hacker and member of Chronic Dev team who is actively working on iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak not only for non A5 devices but also for A5 devices including the new iPad (iPad 3) has found 2 new vulnerabilities. Pod2G started looking for security loop holes in iOS 5.1 soon after it's release in March earlier this year. We already have a tethered jailbreak for non A5 device (iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and iPad 3) but an untethered jailbreak is what people are asking for now. Pod2G frequently updates about his progress on iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak, recently he updated that he has successfully bypassed ASLR which is one of the most crucial steps in jailbreak release.

According to his latest updates on social networking website Twitter, the hacker has found two new vulnerabilities in iOS 5.1. One of them is kernel land and the other one is root land. No more details about these two new vulnerabilities were made public because of obvious reasons. Releasing information about unreleased exploits/vulnerabilities could jeopardize the whole project.

News: a productive week-end. Found 2 big vulnerabilities. 1 kernel land and 1 root land.

Too bad I have to be secret again…

It is still unclear whether Pod2g will use these two new vulnerabilities in iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak which is expected to release in coming weeks/months or he will save them for iOS 6. Pod2G has already announced that he has everything he need to achieve and untethered jailbreak on all iOS devices running iOS 5.1. This jailbreak is crucial because of iPad 3′s addition, there's no public (un)tethered jailbreak available for iPad 3. Millions of iPad 3 users who rely on jailbreak are anxiously waiting for this untethered jailbreak. iPad 3 was jailbroken within 24 hours of it's released but the jailbreak was not released publicly because it was unstable and a lot of work is still pending.

There is no news on the exact launch date of this jailbreak. Remember that Pod2G also setup a poll on his website in which he asked everyone about the release of iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak. Most people were in favor of it's release as soon as possible. We have experienced the wait game before when iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak was released. The jailbreak was released almost after three months of its demo. So we can flexibly say that this untethered jailbreak can also takes weeks or may be months. Nothing is confirmed as yet but the development is positive as of now.

We will keep you updated on this, stay tuned!
