There is news and a photo circulating about the next gen Apple tablet, iPad 3 even before it has been launched. This has led to exposure of its internal components & design and awareness into its motherboard, processor and graphics chips.
It appears that the iPad 3 will have a Retina Display, similar to the iPhone 4S that has a very high pixel density, to the extent that human eye-normal vision cannot detect.
This promises images and text with excellent clarity and sharpness, which is more of a must have feature than a good to have to complement the iPad's smaller screen.
The new images of the iPad 3 reveal that Apple may continue with the A5X (dual core) processor instead of the quad core processor, which means that the execution speed will remain the same.

Quad core processors while operate at double the speed compared to dual core processors, however the program code that needs to run the quad core processor is an intricate one.
Apple may be concentrating more on the graphics side of the motherboard by continuing to use the A5 processor that has already proved to be a success in the current versions.
Another component change may be the batteries; Apple this time around is rumored to have thinner batteries, which will also give an extended battery life, compared to its current version.

Thinner batteries also mean a thinner case, however the Retina Display feature would require the iPad 3 to have a thicker case. Other component changes that are speculated in the next gen iPad are the NFC capability and Qualcomm 4G LTE Gobi 4000 chip.
